ASML breaks ground on new Eindhoven industrial campus with 20,000-workplace potential
ASML is building its second large-scale industrial campus in the Netherlands' Brainport region with the commencement of a multi-stage development at Brainport Industries Campus North in Eindhoven.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, marking the start of construction of a campus that can potentially cover up to 350,000 square metres and accommodate up to 20,000 workplaces.
The development is meant to create additional production capacity for ASML, which plans to grow further in the coming years. ASML president and CEO Christophe Fouquet said the project will give the company the space and flexibility to continue innovating and meet the growing needs of the global semiconductor industry. Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten joined the ceremony alongside representatives from government, customers, suppliers, knowledge institutions and regional partners.
The first stage of the BIC North campus is expected to be completed in 2029 and will accommodate at least 3,000 employees, integrating production, logistics and office activities within a single industrial campus. Most workers will move from existing ASML facilities.
A main component of the first phase will be ASML's new flow factory, applying next-generation manufacturing technologies for the TWINSCAN systems. The flow-factory concept improves material flows through the manufacturing process, making production more efficient and scalable without lowering product quality, using techniques proven in industries such as automotive and aerospace.
The campus is designed as a phased project rather than a single-stage build. In the long run it can potentially accommodate up to 20,000 workplaces depending on ASML's future needs, giving the company room to expand manufacturing capacity amid growing demand for semiconductor equipment driven by artificial intelligence and other innovative technologies.
BIC North will be ASML's second major industrial campus in the Brainport region. Its future regional footprint will span three locations: the headquarters campus at De Run 1000 in Veldhoven, the existing industrial campus at De Run 6000/7000 in Veldhoven, and the new BIC North campus in Eindhoven.
The development reflects collaboration between ASML, local and national governments, knowledge institutions and regional partners, with infrastructure and planning work progressing alongside the project. The new campus will be a significant addition to the semiconductor ecosystem of Brainport Eindhoven, providing ASML with additional manufacturing capacity and room for further expansion.
