Inside Mercury’s new OSM facility

Inside Mercury’s new multimillion-euro OSM facility

Mercury’s new Off-Site Manufacturing (OSM) hub in Schönebeck, Germany, marks a major investment in capability and delivery. The facility supports Mercury’s focus on efficiency, consistency, and predictability across the data centre, life sciences, and semiconductor sectors, reinforcing its position as the European leader in construction solutions.

Covering 13,000 square metres of production space and 200 purpose-built office spaces, it also serves as Mercury’s headquarters in mainland Europe. This impressive new facility represents a major strategic investment for Mercury as part of the company’s five-year strategy, Go Beyond. An initial €25 million has been invested in phase one of the build, with the potential for the total investment to rise to €45 million in a planned second phase.

Michael O’Dwyer, Program Manager for OSM is leading the mobilisation of Mercury’s new hub following nearly 30 years working with leading high-tech manufacturing companies. He is focused on building a diverse and capable team that will deliver a broad range of products from the facility, maximising its long-term benefit to Mercury and its clients.

Off-Site Manufacturing: Mercury’s world class USP

From Schönebeck, Mercury will produce high-spec modular assemblies, including carbon and stainless-steel pipework, sprinkler systems, and high-purity process infrastructure across data centres, life sciences, and semiconductor sectors. This approach enables faster project timelines, improved precision, reduced site congestion, and measurable progress toward more sustainable construction practices.

As Mercury pursues it’s Go Beyond strategy, the Schönebeck hub will act as a strategic base for operations across mainland Europe.

Maximising Delivery, Consistency and Productivity Across Europe

Mercury’s investment in the facility connects engineering, OSM, and digital delivery teams under one roof, driving consistency, precision, and scalability across every stage of construction.

Over the coming period, Mercury will continue expanding capacity at Schönebeck, fully loading the facility with a broad range of prefabricated products that support Mercury’s clients across all primary sectors. Recruitment is progressing in line with technical commissioning, as diverse and capable teams are mobilised on site to maximise the long-term benefit of the facility for both Mercury and its partners.

“We’ll continue refining and improving its efficiency and product range, building capability that improves year after year.” says Michael.

Mercury has a well-established track record in offsite manufacturing, with operations across Ireland and a robust network of more than 70 modular construction partners across Europe. The addition of the Schönebeck facility significantly strengthens our European capabilities and reinforces Mercury’s role as the leading provider of construction solutions.
