ArcLight Commits $1bn to New US Transmission Infrastructure Platform
ArcLight Capital Partners has announced a $1 billion investment from its funds to establish Anchor Point Transmission, an independent company focused on strengthening and expanding the US power grid.
The launch comes as rising electricity demand driven by electrification, domestic manufacturing growth, and the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence computing increases pressure on the nation’s transmission infrastructure. Anchor Point will work alongside utilities to accelerate the development of high-voltage transmission projects across the country.
To lead the new venture, ArcLight has appointed Justin Campbell as president and Michael Deggendorf as executive chairman. They will be supported by a management team with significant experience in transmission development, operations, and leadership.
Since its founding in 2001, ArcLight has owned, operated, or controlled more than 70GW of energy assets and managed approximately 48,000 miles of electric and gas transmission and storage infrastructure. Its portfolio is valued at more than $90 billion in enterprise value and includes private power generation assets and a thermal development pipeline across North America.
ArcLight Managing Partner Angelo Acconcia said the firm’s combination of operational, technical, and commercial expertise, together with its Advanced Power and AlphaGen platforms and Anchor Point’s transmission capabilities, positions the company to help address growing infrastructure needs. He added that ArcLight aims to be a strategic partner for utilities as they pursue expansion and long-term growth.
The Anchor Point leadership team brings substantial industry experience, having been involved in the development or origination of transmission projects valued at more than $4 billion and the construction of over 1,500 miles of transmission lines across multiple US power markets and regulatory environments.
Campbell highlighted the increasing challenges utilities face, including record transmission investment requirements, affordability concerns, reliability demands, and more complex planning processes. He described Anchor Point as a flexible, long-term partner designed to provide development expertise, regulatory knowledge, strategic planning, and disciplined project execution to help utilities meet evolving customer needs.
Before joining Anchor Point, Campbell held leadership positions at Tallgrass Energy, GridLiance, and Edison Transmission, building nearly two decades of industry experience. Deggendorf has also held senior leadership roles at AEP, Transource Energy, Great Plains Energy, and Grid Assurance.
In March 2026, ArcLight also agreed to acquire InfraBridge’s 50% stake in Invenergy AMPCI Thermal Power, a North American power generation portfolio with a total capacity of 5.4GW.
