Tata Group and Intel Corporation have announced a strategic alliance aimed at strengthening India’s domestic electronics and semiconductor ecosystem. The partnership will explore collaboration across consumer and enterprise hardware enablement, as well as semiconductor and systems manufacturing, in a move designed to support the development of a more resilient, India-based supply chain.

Under a newly signed memorandum of understanding, the two companies plan to assess opportunities to manufacture and package Intel products for the local market at Tata Electronics’ forthcoming semiconductor fabrication and outsourced assembly and test (OSAT) facilities. The agreement also covers potential collaboration on advanced packaging capabilities in India.

In parallel, Intel and Tata will explore ways to rapidly scale AI-powered PC solutions tailored for Indian consumer and enterprise customers. India is expected to become one of the world’s top five PC markets by 2030, driven by rising demand and accelerating adoption of artificial intelligence. Any future collaboration would combine Intel’s AI compute reference designs with Tata Electronics’ electronics manufacturing services expertise and Tata Group’s extensive market reach across India.

N Chandrasekaran, chairman of Tata Sons, said the alliance reflects the group’s long-term commitment to building a strong semiconductor industry in India. He added that working with Intel would help accelerate the development of a broader technology ecosystem and position both companies to capture the growing AI opportunity.

Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan described the partnership as an opportunity to scale rapidly in one of the world’s fastest-growing compute markets, as demand for PCs and AI-enabled systems continues to rise across India.

Dr Randhir Thakur, CEO and managing director of Tata Electronics, said the MoU aligns with the company’s roadmap across manufacturing services, OSAT and semiconductor fabrication, helping to deliver a more reliable and competitive supply chain while enabling faster time-to-market for next-generation Intel products.
